APIA’s car insurance policy is extremely popular amongst Australians from all walks of life.
They offer four different car insurance plans with various levels of cover ranging from basic policies to comprehensive cover including windscreen protection:
Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance
APIA’s most basic motor insurance option is CTP. This gives drivers protection when they injure either themselves or other people in an accident when they are at fault.
CTP insurance is compulsory when registering vehicles in either NSW or the ACT, but is not used by drivers from other states.
Third-Party Insurance
This option is very similar to CTP insurance. It offers protection in accidents where you are at fault, and you will receive legal liability insurance of up to $20 million.
Damage to your own car by uninsured drivers is covered by up to $5000.
Third-Party, Fire, and Theft Insurance
This option offers all the same perks as APIA’s third-party insurance policy but with added benefits. These added benefits include:
- Loss or damage to your car due to theft or fire will be covered.
- Towing costs to a repair facility will be covered when necessary.
- Hire car costs will be covered for up to 21 days if your car is stolen.
- If your car is stolen, the cost of expenses to get home (up to $500) will be covered.
Comprehensive Insurance
As suggested by the name, this insurance policy covers almost any type of damage that could occur during the normal use of your car.
This includes car accidents, theft, fire, storms, criminal damage, and many other things.
You can also add APIA roadside support for a small monthly fee, which gives you 24/7 support and windscreen and window glass cover, which is highly recommended!
APIA’s Windscreen and Window Glass Cover
This optional extra can be included in your comprehensive car insurance coverage. It covers you for one replacement windscreen or window glass per insurance period and is excess-free.
However, when repairing or replacing your windscreen under insurance it is very important to gain approval from your insurer before any work commences.
